Unboxing: Everything Zelda!

Mrs. Nola Nerd Couple loves The Legend of Zelda probably more than she does me. I’m not jealous…it was there first. She is obsessed with Zelda and Zelda products.  However, adulting can both fuel an obsession in that it provides money for said obsession, but it also takes time from staying on top of your obsession.  Case in point: she missed the special edition release of The Legend of Zedla: Breath of the Wild.  Work just got in the way.  It happens.  So the day it was released, we went out for some Zelda retail therapy to help with the disappointment.

But the goddesses of Hyrule had a surprise for her at the end of her quest!

I tried using AfterEffects for a title sequence, and it shows I have some learning to do, but you have to start somewhere!

Unboxing: Sufjan Stevens and The Replacements

It’s another video where I ramble on about some of my favorite albums.  And yes, I already own these albums on vinyl.  I’m a collector not a horder!

Reviewing: The Purple Mattress

July 1, 2016: We did a 3 month update review – click here to read it. (Spoiler alert: still awesome!)

Ever since I saw a sponsored post on Facebook showing the Purple mattress going through the raw egg test, I was intrigued. Even though everyone who has ever slept on my bed has loved it and said it was the most comfortable bed (especially my Maw Maw!) and Kurt has no issues with it, I wake up with a stiff neck and shoulders many mornings. Kurt, due to his PR, can often have stiff joints. The Purple mattress claimed to absorb pressure points so that even if you dropped raw eggs under glass using three hundred pounds of pressure, the eggs would not crack.

In doing a little research about Purple, I found that they launched a Kickstarter campaign for their mattress on September 23, 2015. On September 28, 2015, they were fully funded. That is a little over $170,000 in less than five days. In fact, the goal was only $25,000. Wow! According to their Kickstarter page, “Purple™ is a Hyper-Elastic™ polymer, which is super stretchy and super strong. That means it’s durable and your mattress won’t develop a body impression. It is also temperature neutral, hypoallergenic, responsive, and comfortable!” Reading through their project, I became more and more impressed and interested in trying out a Purple mattress for myself, especially with a 100 night money back guarantee and a 10 year full warranty. Unboxing: Comic Con Box Eleven – Justice

In the last few years, companies have found a way to generate revenue from companies by sending them a box full of things.  Most of the time these boxes are geared to a certain group such as care packages for college kids, dog owners, new parents, etc.  Of course, there are boxes geared for nerds.  We have been a subscriber to Wizard World’s Comic Con Box  since day one. We have collected them all.  Sometimes they are great (DC, Marvel and Star Wars stuff) and sometimes we try to think of people who would like the stuff in the box (anime). I like that they always have a comic in the box which has lead to us subscribing to a few at our local comic book store.  They also always include a T-shirt in each box that we always get compliments on when we were in public.  My favorite is how to make an alien.  Of course, being nerds, we like to film the unboxing.  What makes these videos pretty interesting is that we don’t always know what it is we are unboxing!  (Again, anything anime). We even have been featured on their website for our videos. Not only have we been featured, we were selected one time to win an extra box full of Star Wars goodies!

Here is Cristina unboxing the latest box entitled Justice.

Unboxing: The Replacements Box Set

Last year was a great year to be a Replacements fan.  First, they did their first tour in 22 years, which we were lucky enough to see in April 2015 in Hollywood.  Later in the year, Rhino released a box set of their first four albums on TwinTone.

Here is a video of me explaining how much the Replacements, and these albums, meant to me:

From time to time, we unbox packages such as ComicCon Box, LootCratespecial edition vinyl, and any other cool things we might get.  We will post our videos here, but feel free to also subscribe to our YouTube channel!
