ComicCon-ing: Fan Expo Dallas Takes Place This Weekend!!!

We have been covering Fan Expo Dallas for a couple of weeks now even though we will not be there.  Read all of our previous coverage here. Why cover a con that we can’t attend? 1) We want to attend but we just can’t make it. 2) We have been to Fan Expo Dallas before and we love this con.  It’s well run and provides for a great weekend.

However, if we were going to Fan Expo Dallas we would definitely be getting quite a few autographs. First of all, we need Mar Hamill’s autograph on quite a few items. We would get a This is Us and Gilmore Girls autograph from Milo Ventimiglia.  I need Alay Tudyk on my Firefly poster, while Cristina needs Jason Isaacs on a Star Wars Rebels and a Harry Potter photograph. Charisma Carpenter is one of the few Buffy stars that I haven’t met yet.  We have a great Arrow poster that has a spot for Willa Holland. We definitely would get Drew Struzan to sign one of his posters. Luckily for us, we have met Stan Lee many times, but he won’t be doing many more cons so he will have long lines.

For comics, I would have to bring some New 52 Batmans for Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo to sign.  I would have to choose very carefully on what Batman Rebirth’s I would want Tom King to sign. Same with Black Panther for Brian Stelfreeze.  Also, we would have to choose what great run we would want Gail Simone to sign.

Of course, there will be tons of panels and other events for Fan Expo Dallas. There will be celebrity Q&As, panels about cosplays and comics, speed dating, and after parties. You can find the schedule here.

We can’t wait to see pictures and tweets about this con!  We will live vicariously through these!!!

Comic Con-ing: Fan Expo Dallas Announces Exclusives

We are really upset we are going to miss this year.  Timing was right for us (we do have real jobs that pay money that have to take precedence over we do it because we love it job). The celebrity line up is fantastic and it boasts one of the best comic creator lineups we have seen in a while.

Now there will be exclusives that you can only get at the con.  Here are just a few that you could have signed by some of the creators at the con:

  • Variant cover of Love is Love by Cat Staggs.
  • A Jim Lee variant cover of All-Star Batman #8
  • A Jim Lee variant cover of Batman #19
  • Iron Fist #1 variant cover by Mike McKone
  • Grimm Fairy Tales Adult Coloring Book variant cover by J Scott Campbell.

There will also be exclusive T-Shirts, figures (including a bombshell Harley Quinn), and other merchandise.  If anyone wants to pick us up a Harley Quinn Exclusive mouse pad, we would love you eternally!

You can see all the exclusive here!

Episode 29: Spring Comic Cons Preview

The Nola Nerd Couple love attending comic cons and have four scheduled until the end of May. In this podcast, we preview Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Spooky Empire also in Orlando, Comicpalooza in Houston, and then we head back down to Orlando for Mega Con. We do a preview of all the great guests at each con and discuss what we are looking forward to doing at each one.

ComicCon-ing: Fan Expo Dallas is Coming Soon

Fan Expo Dallas will take place March 31 to April 2 at the Dallas Convention Center.  With Mark Hamill and Stan Lee, this con can boast one of the strongest celebrity and comic artist lineups in recent memory.

Of course they have added more guests, this time quite a few internet and YouTube celebrity guests. This guests include the creators of Cyanide & Happiness (who we met at the Fan Expo Dallas we attended), the stars of the Hillywood Show, Meg Turney, RealtDragon, Jessica Nigri, and Leeanna Vamp.

Fan Expo Dallas is also offering a Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo. This includes a limited edition lithograph by Mr. Capullo and signed by both, 5 autographs each from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo on items of your choice at an exclusive session, and exclusive panel presentation with both, and a selfie. A similar experiences is available for Adam Kubert.

You can now buy photo op with your favorite stars now, here.  As of right now, it doesn’t look like anyone has sold out, but there are a few you may want to get as soon as you can just in case!

If you can’t make it the con, but still want Mark Hamill’s autograph, you can do a send in with Official Pix.  The deadline is March 21.

ComicCon-ing: Fan Expo Dallas

Even though we really can’t make Fan Expo Dallas, they still pretty much have us like this:

Why?  Here is some of their guest announcements since we last posted.

  • Milo Ventimiglia: We met him before at Megacon Orlando, but they didn’t have any Gilmore Girls pictures.  We got one for Heroes, but Mrs. Nola Nerd Couple hasn’t watched it yet. So she still wants a picture of Jess for her collection.  However, I think a large portion of his line will be for This Is Us.  This Is Us, and Mr. Ventimiglia’s performance in it, is the kind of that would drive people who don’t normally attend cons to go.  Seriously, have you met anyone who has watched it and didn’t like it?  Mr. Ventimiglia’s Jack is the glue that holds the show together.
  • Kevin Conroy – Not only will THE Batman be there, but so will Mark Hamill.  Normally, I would find it silly to do a photo op with voice actors, but come on, this is maybe the greatest two voice roles of all time.
  • In addition to those two giants of voice acting game, Nolan North and Troy Baker will be appearing at Fan Expo Dallas.  Uncharted is my favorite game series ever, and these two portray Nathan and Samuel Drake.  Mr. Baker has also done amazing work in The Last of Us and also voiced the Joker. Mr. North, who has a ton of credits,  has also done work in Con Man and voiced the Penguin in some og the Batman games.
  • My favorite Doctor Who companion is Donna Noble.  So when it was announced that Fan Expo Dallas would be her first American appearance, I checked prices of flights.  (Alas, still too high). Joining Alex Kingston and Karen Gillan, this is a special treat for Whovians.
  • I don’t know anything about anime, but in that field Colleen Clinkenbeard, Todd Haberkorn, and Jamie Marchi have been announced.
  • Drew Stuzan is world renown artist who has designed posters for Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

Maybe it’s a good thing we can’t make it. My bank account doesn’t need that kind of devestation.

ComicCon-ing: Fan Expo Dallas Updates

The next major con in drivable distance from New Orleans is Fan Expo Dallas.  We can’t make it to this con, but, man, do we want to it.  It’s shaping to be a fantastic con with plenty of great guests.

Since our previous post on Fan Expo Dallas, the following guests have been announced:

  • Karen Gillan and Alex Kingston from Doctor Who will be there.  They are fantastic guests and are always entertaining.
  • Khary Payton will make an appearance at Dallas.  This is a treat for Walking Dead fans in that he will be joining Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Norman Reedus.
  • Tom Wilson, best known as Biff Tannen from Back to the Future, will be going to Dallas.  We were among the first that met him in New Orleans and if you are a fan of the series, go get his autograph. He is very personable.
  • An actor who will be a Fan Expo who we always seemed to miss, which is shame for him because  would take all of our money, is Jason Isaacs.  We would really want to get him to sign Harry Potter and Star Wars Rebels stuff.
  • Willa Holland (Thea from Arrow) will be in Dallas. We have never met her, but we do have an Arrow poster that needs her autograph.
  • The stars of the hit animie series RWBR will be at Fan Expo Dallas.  This includes Lindsay Jones, Kara Everle, Arryn Zech, Barbara Dunkelman.

There is also a large line-up of cosplayers at Fan Expo. Here is a list of some of the cosplayers listed on their site:

  • Alexandria the Red
  • Leeanna Vamp
  • Jessica Nigri
  • Meg Turney
  • Brit Bliss
  • Heather 1337
  • Riddle
  • Ani-Mia
  • Karli Woods
  • MCubed
  • Chelsea von Chastity
  • Dee Rich Cosplay
  • Christina Faye
  • Calen Hoffman
  • Cecil Grimes
  • Koi Fish Asylum

Fan Expo Dallas is at the Dallas Convention Center from March 31 to April 2.

ComicCon-Ing: Fan Expo Dallas Has a Treat for Buffy Fans

fed17-headerSince this morning’s post, Fan Expo Dallas has announced three new guests, all from the Buffy/Angel universe.

James Marsters:  Mr. Marsters played Spike on Buffy and Angel.  At the first con we attended together, Mrs. Nola Nerd Couple purchased a Marsters VIP.  He didn’t disappoint.

Eliza Dushku:  Ms. Dushku portrayed Faith on both Buffy and Angel.  We met her a few years back on my birthday and Wizard World New Orleans.

Charisma Carpenter: One of the artists missing from my personal Buffy/Angel collection is Charisma Carpenter.  She was such a vital part of both shows that I want to get an autograph for both shows.

This is one year where we really can’t make it to Dallas.  We the lineup they forming, this is starting to be upsetting.
